Contemporary artist Florin Mihai creates minimalist artwork using black ink and gold or silver leaf on canvas. His works capture landscapes from top cities such as New York, Phoenix, London, or Paris.

Florin Mihai

My artistic practice is driven by the expressive power of color and contrast. I explore the tension between light and shadow, warmth and depth, using bold chromatic harmonies to convey movement, atmosphere, and emotional intensity. Each composition is conceived as a living surface—vibrant, dynamic, and constantly in dialogue with the viewer.

Working primarily on canvas, I am deeply inspired by both cityscapes and natural landscapes. Urban environments fascinate me through their rhythm, structure, and energy, while nature offers a sense of openness, balance, and timeless beauty. In my work, these worlds often converge, translated through a painterly language that emphasizes texture, abstraction, and luminous color.

Rather than aiming for strict realism, I seek to capture the essence of a place—the pulse of a harbor at dusk, the quiet grandeur of architecture, or the shifting light of the sky. My paintings are an invitation to experience familiar spaces in a heightened, almost dreamlike state, where color becomes the primary storyteller.
